The Watsons

Ruby, our mama rat has passed.  We made a hard decision to make an appointment to take her to the vet because she wasn’t getting  around very well and we didn’t want that for her.  She was a whoppin almost 3 years old and lived a full and crazy good life with us.  We will miss her terribly… And not being a rat mama myself anymore will be hard. Our beepers have been the best pets we have ever had and we still talk about their quirks everyday. We love and  miss you Rubelecakes.

Moon Lake… Wikipedia says: “Moon Lake is a high mountain reservoir on the south slope of the High Uintas in Duchesne County, Utah. Recreation management is under the jurisdiction of the U.S. Forest Service, as the lake is part of the Ashley National Forest.” – I think that’s boring. Moon Lake is probably the coolest thing within 50 miles of the little town of Duchesne (pronounced ”dooshane” which I think is an accurate portmanteau of “douche” and “pain”.). Its pretty much one of the prettiest reservoirs in the unintas. I say this because I’m pretty sure all the other lakes in the uintas are actual lakes.

All that nonsense aside, Kristin’s family goes to moon lake every year. And its definitely something on our to do list every summer. This years highlights included: excellent pictures of a whistle pig, bug catching, sitting in camp chairs, and going on walks. heh We found some pretty crazy looking mushrooms too. Here are the pictures I deemed worthy of the internets.

This past month or so has been full of fun, parties and hanging out on the porch.  For the fourth of July Troy and I hung out with my parents and watched Thanksgiving Points fireworks from the back of the truck, told stories and laughed the whole time which was good because the fireworks were a little lame this year.  We went to my Grandpa Doyles birthday party and roasted hot dogs. And the following week was Steel Days so we went to the car shows, the cruise and boutiques. It was so much fun just walking around with Troy, holding his hand and trying not to get sunburned   And the fireworks that night were awesome! We have had BBQ’s at our families houses and our own.  We have even let Ruby and the chickens take part in them too by giving them watermelon.. And they loved it! We have also been out fishing by the pumps with Cole. Thanks to all you Smiths out there for letting us come out!

And to finish, I just cant wait for all our camping trips we have planned.  Ilwaco… We will be there soon, and you’ll hear us coming!

My Uncle Kim passed away this week and it has been rough on everyone.  I just hope everyone turns out ok.  And I’d like to think he’s in a better place now. The viewing and funeral went very well.  It was odd, because I came out of the funeral knowing him better than when he was still here.  We heard so many stories that made everyone laugh from “The pig man of Alpine” to his stories growing up with his sister and brothers and friends.  It makes me wish that I knew him a little better.  The most I knew of him was his dirty jokes at family parties and the stories about him and my cousin Brandon… And now I know him better.

 Kim Clyde Turner 1953 ~ 2010 Kim Clyde Turner, age 57 of Alpine, Utah died June 18, 2010 in Highland, Utah. He was born May 22, 1953 in Lehi, Utah, son of Clyde A. and Ann Chidester Turner. Kim was married to Sherry Olson for 17 years, later divorced but still remaining friends. Later married Melissa Kellum. Kim was a general contractor and a successful businessman in Utah for over 30 years. He was a friend to everyone and was always there for anyone that needed help. He was an avid outdoorsman and a devoted son, father, grandfather, and brother. Survived by his mother, Ann Alora, father, Clyde A. Turner, children: John (Leticia) Turner, Lesa (Robert) Milsom, Chad A. Turner, and Brandon Turner, Alexandra (Jonathan) Pardew; eight grandchildren; brothers and sister, Kris (Toni) Turner, Jay (Cathi) Turner, and Lora (Lloyd) Stinson.

Happy fathers day to all you daddies out there… and Troy! Ruby made him an extra special gift this year.  She made him a pretty finger painting.  I think I had more fun helping her than she did making it. haha! Happy Dads Day Troy. We love you.

We had to say goodbye to another one of our little ratties. Pearl. She was so great! She was so sweet from the day we brought her googlie eyes and Java home from Boise and was friends with everyone.  She was so fun and crazy wild. She was always there ready for pets and treats every morning and when when we would get home from work.  My favorite was her giving you kisses when you scratched her little scruffy butt… And that was about the only time you could get her to hold still, she wasn’t much of a snuggler… much more of a treat snatcher and hoarder.   But she was a trooper through sickness and surgeries she was always ready to jump back in the house and run in her wheel.  She always loved the adventure of new treats and new areas to run and hide in. We love you Pearl. And miss you.

As most of you know, we have had a bit of a late start when jumping into summer. We finally have our garden going strong. Even with every weekend being rainy or snowy… which didn’t help our roof at all.. But lucky us, we just got it fixed!  I want to give Dave big thanks! The Troys and Cole did a lot too, so thank you. But anyway, here is a peek into summer at T& K Ranch.

So we finally decided that it was in Troys best interest to try cutting his hair because the heat from summer was too much with a mop.  I have never known him to have short hair, but the pics from when he was a young lad with short hair are all super cute, so I wasn’t worried at all.   So this day, he randomly decided to not trim it, but shave most of it off.  When we got to his moms house to use her hair trimmer you could see he was starting to get nervous, (I think his mom being nervous and almost crying had something to do with it   Love you Kalynn!)  so he grabbed a chunk and snipped it right off!  That way it was too late to turn back.  haha.  So we started with a mullet and transitioned into a full head-hawk!  And this is what we ended up with.  I love it!  Let us hope he does as well.

Easter was great this year!  Troy and I colored our eggs, then we went to the Watsons for brunch and the Turners for dinner.  We even got 2 baskets from the Easter Bunny!  Even the beepers got to have some fun with the colored eggs. Nom nom.  Anyways, We hope everyone had a great one!

My birthday was great!  We had family and some friends over to share pie and ice cream with!
