..6 and 7.

Meet Hermann Von Rompuy (Speckled Sussex) and Captain ‘Stache (Ameraucana)!  These girls will be our 6th and 7th chickens. They’re only 4 1/2 weeks old and have to be kept separate for a little while longer.  I can’t wait til we get to take them outside and I hope our big mamma’s will be nice to them.  Anyways, we will get more pictures up here soon… by then, they may be in their weird teen stage. haha.

A Happy Anniversary in Nevada

For our Anniversary we decided to do a close trip and we ended up in Nevada!  It was great, the weather was perfect and my little car got us there just fine :)   We just stayed at our hotel in Mesquite, hit a restaurant, went bowling and after jumped in the hot tubs!

Our second day we went to Vegas.  We went straight to china town, checked out some stores and grabbed some awesome Phillipino food. We went to a lot of shows.  We went to the Bodies and The Titanic exhibits, then went to an Aquarium in Montego Bay.  By then, it was dark outside and not so hot, so while waiting for our last show we went walking around the strip and into some stores… and that’s when we heard, “Pappys got some wisdom fer ya!” haha.  We found Pappy! This old prospector guy quarter machine that would give you advice.  We immediately thought of Cole and had to take a picture for him. We watched the pirate show at Treasure Island, but I have to say it’s not nearly as good as it use to be.  And then, we finally made it to our final show, Bite.  It was really good!  There was a lot of dancing, acrobats, boobies and singing! I loved the singing! haha. It was all old rock and roll.  I would recommend it.

And on our last day we drove into Arizona and kicked around down by the Virgin River looking for rocks and stuff, but soon left because of the heat.  It was St. Patricks Day so it was packed in the casinos so we decided to go out for a nice dinner, more bowling and relax the rest of the night.  All in all it was a great little trip!  I loved it, and I love that Troy likes trips too.  Happy Anniversary! Love you!

Borscht

I made a Russian soup called Borscht tonight… At first it sounded weird but its definitely a favorite. Here’s the recipe and a picture.

INGREDIENTS
1 Tbsp veg. oil
1-2lb beef roast
1 large onion, peeled, quartered
64 oz beef stock
4 large beets, peeled, chopped
2 large russet potatos, cut into 1/2-inch cubes
Half of a head of cabbage, thinly sliced
1 Tbsp dill
1 cup sour cream
Salt and pepper to taste

In a large pot bring veg oil to medium-high temp and add the roast. Brown the roast on all sides then add onion. After onions start to go clear add 32 ounces (4 cups) of the beef broth and bring to a boil. Reduce to a simmer for 1 and a half hours.

Pull out the roast and chop it into small pieces against the grain. Add beets, chopped beef and the rest of the broth to the pan, simmer 30 minutes. Add cabbage and simmer an additional 15 minutes.

Serve with a spoon of sour creme and a sprinkle of dill.

Beeper Bathtime

Poor little girls! haha.  They don’t like their bowl and sink baths.  So fresh and so clean clean! And I think that’s all that needs to be said. :)

Happy Love Weekend!

♥ This Valentines weekend was great! The weather was nice and an extra long weekend because of Presidents day…. Anyways, We went out west shooting Troys guns, we took scooter rides and went out to dinner. Valentines day was full of cards, balloons, goodies and SUSHI! Homemade sushi. Some of the best I’ve ever had and it was fun to make our own. :) It’s definitely something we will do more often. Anyways, it couldn’t have been better and no one better to spend it with. ♥

Look what I found!

I was getting really curious as to why we were only getting 3-4 eggs a day after we had 5 eggs a day steadily for a week. I searched the whole yard; looked in the ditch pipes, the wood pile, the composter, I even tore the shed apart looking for eggs. Then I remembered finding one egg on the ground behind the coop. So I started searching around the coop. I had never thought about the space between the nesting boxes and the straw! I lifted up the straw cover and found this:

Mystery solved.

The question is not should I… but would I?

Ha ha. K. So I came across this pic a while ago and I just found it again.  I think it may be the funniest and saddest little thing evar!  The little hat and cloak doesn’t seem to bother the poor beeper but it is just so funny to me! So the question isn’t should I make one, because I know I shouldn’t… But would I?  Probably! Just to laugh at little ratties in costumes!  But i don’t want to be one of those pet moms that dress their pets up. But anyway, I hope I made everyone either laugh or seriously think of how crazy I really am.  :)

All of January all in one.

So here it goes… We celebrated Troys 23rd birthday!  Hooray!  And it was technically the first party we threw in our house.  We had the family over for cake and ice cream and had fun opening presents!  I made his cake again. I’m not too good, but I do like to make them.  I like to think Liz taught me how to frost cakes because she is the best I know..  Thanks Lizbeth!  Anyway, He got a new saw, shaver, shirts, chevy battery charger, some robot stuff, etc.. Overall, great birthday!

We had a fish tank for a while and we finally decided to fill ‘er up. We have some mollys, albino tiger barbs, rainbow shark and a ghost shrimp swimmin around now. They’re pretty fun!  And ink loves to watch them.  Recently Troy came home and caught her elbow deep in the water trying to hook one. haha. .. wish I was there for that one.

There was a pretty big snow storm that happened a few weeks ago, and we decided to take the Heavy Chevy out for a ride.  The wiper blades had broken so he had to get out every once in a while to scrape them off… Bad News!  But it was a fun little ride that probably took 20 minutes to go around two blocks.  :)

We also went out to Charlie Chows for his and Sheeps birthday dinner. We had a huge awesome group and had rons of fun and awesome food.  Thanks for the pics Jen!

So ink has this new, “I love smelly things and need to drop shoulder and rub all over them”  kind of thing going on.  She especially loves shoes, wash clothes and socks…. Coles socks! LOL!

We finally got our first Double yolk egg! Thanks Daisy Bird!

Troy built his huge desk.  It’s pretty sweet! We can fit all of his geek stuff and my sewing stuff on it as well.

Coles ponytail… nuff said.

Here are our Ratties.  I’ve been trying to get some good pics of them lately. Here are some of our faves.. here is Ruby and Pearl.

We are plant-sitting my Grandma Turners Cactus while there in Arizona and Mexico.  He’s kind of growing on me.  I like to call him Gus.

So here you go..

Kitchen Update.

Holy smokes we’ve done a lot to this house! Check out the kitchen after we gutted it.

Before - Gutted

And here it is after we got our hands on it.

Happy New Years!

To start off our lovely night, we went to Cody and Joelle’s wedding where Troy was a groomsman… and almost didn’t make it on time.  Ha ha. We had some major malfunctions with his wardrobe and had to run to walmart for some quick fixes a few minutes before it was to start.  I wish we grabbed a few more pics of it, but this is what we have.  It was very nice and I loved that it was citrus themed.  But I’m very glad we got invited and Troy got to see some old friends.

After the wedding we had some fun watching movies and the New Years shows and eating pizza.  I bought some whistles and a few other fun accessories. We ended up playing with them early and snagging some pictures… and it’s a good thing because I crashed out before midnight, but I did wake up right before though ha ha.  I think it drives Troy crazy! anyway, Happy New Years everyone!
